There's something about shopping that's supposed to elevate your mood, but it doesn't work for me anymore. I spent 3 hours at the mall with my family and I was not inspired to buy anything at all. I think it's because of my newer, more realistic, arguably more mature outlook on life that says that I need to use the money I would have used for buying new clothes for other, more important things. And those things are what's really getting me down in the first place.

Oh, shopping. In a way, I miss the days when blowing a whole lot of cash on stuff I don't really need made me happy. It was a much simpler time when I didn't have to worry so much about where the money was going. Unfortunately, those days are over.

At least, until after graduate school when I whore myself out to a biotech firm or pharmaceutical company and make six figures....

It's a novella!
Haha, my problem is that I actually could stand to buy some new clothes, I own two pairs of pants that I actually wear, I bought a third but have yet to wear them. The pair I wear most, I bought maybe four years ago, got too fat for them, and now I am too unfat for them. Same goes for the other pair of pants I actually wear.

The new pants, they fit just right, but I don't wear them. Go figure.

Either way, while I do enjoy shopping, I only really buy crap I don't need when it is supercheap or something... or I absolutely NEED it. I'll buy small things when I'm out shopping, but usually they are grocery related.

The last massive shopping spree I took, I spent 31 dollars and some change. I bought a rabbit fur scarf, a faux fur scarf, and a wool fedora. It was all 75% off, and I've been wanting a nice new hat and a real fur. The fake fur I will wear with my fake fur hat. Now that I think about it, the last thing I need is a new hat...

What I usually end up doing if I go shopping, is picking up things, squealing about how awesome it is, cuddling it and becoming attached, and then putting it back right before I check out, because I realize I don't need/want it. The only thing I think I couldn't put back was a four dollar Hallowe'en spider, because I'd rescued it from the wrong shelf, cuddled it, named it, taken it with me throughout the store, and become ridiculously attached to it. I was going to swap him out for purple, but then I realized that I was way too attached to him, so I bought him.

ahh, the joys of being an adult. maybe it's because you went shopping with family? you might have had more fun with friends. who knows. I don't know how close you are with your family so I don't know which would make you happier.

I have a problem going into the stores now because it's slightly depressing when I see something I really could use, but it's not absolutely necessary nor can I really afford it. about the only thing I "splurge" on is chocolate, but I go through withdrawls if I go too long without.

Woohoo, six figures!

You sure you haven't just reached the point where you don't really want material things anymore?
