Saturday, December 29, 2007 @ 8:58 am The wiring in our house is shit. I think when they built this house, they never really expected--with all of their 1960s foresight--that bedrooms would have that many electrical appliances in the future. As a result, they placed my room, my sister's room, and the kitchen (?!) on the same circuit. Recently, due to the cold weather, we've been running space heaters throughout the house and it has placed considerable strain on our circuitry. Every once in a while, the strain is so much that the electricity craps out in both my room and my sister's (as well as the kitchen). It's easily fixable with the flip of a switch, if not annoying. But the annoyance factor exponentially increases when my computer's on and it suddenly gets axed. I've found, however, that with my computer off, I'm not so likely to sit at it and waste time. If I actually NEED to do something, I can always just turn it on. But since it isn't staring me in the face every time I come into my room, I'm apt not to surf online aimlessly for hours on end. I've decided to turn off the computer when I don't need to use it for something. This will probably mean less time on NuTang (after it was put back online and everything!) but I think it will inspire me to write a lot less I'm-bored-and-posting-because-I-have-nothing-to-do-right now posts. Alright, back to apps, then I'll pull the plug. 5 Comments. Haha, the house Dave is living in was built in 1901. They had it rewired at some point. One day, I was sitting with the TV, space heater, fan heater, my computer, and a few other things plugged in. I went to microwave a cup of coffee, and I guess one of the fridges kicked on, and then something went "boof!" and everything went off. :/ » ikimashokie on 2007-12-29 01:13:16 XD So true. And it wastes less electricity. ;) And, I suppose, less procrastination? Perhaps? =3 » Silver-dot- on 2007-12-29 02:15:27 ha, who would have thought we'd have so many different electronic devices. I can only imagine what the future holds. but I guess it's a good thing that you won't be wasting time spending too much time on the internet. » LostSoul13 on 2007-12-29 10:14:49 haha. the 1960's ancestors would have never thought the younger generations have so many electrical appliances... they might think we would inherit their simple life... » renaye on 2007-12-30 12:30:39 Well maybe you guys should re-wire the whole house before it catches on fire... » Nuttz on 2007-12-30 09:33:15
