Tuesday, April 3, 2007 @ 6:02 pm Don't get me wrong: I LOVE Filipino food. What kind of Filipino would I be if I didn't? It's just that... well... since my cousin's fiance (husband now, actually) came, we've been eating a lot more Filipino food. And quite frankly, I'm sick of it. I know it must be hard for him to come over here from the Philippines, but eating the same type of food over and over again is tiresome and insults the culinary diversity that exists in this country. Plus, my family tends to eat a lot more when it comes to Filipino food. My mom's been complaining that she's been gaining weight. Well, fucking, DUH. It's all the damn Filipino food. It's good, but it is NOT the healthiest food out there--unless I am entirely wrong and frying, adding MSG, and/or cooking with inordinate amounts of oil is healthy for you. Right. That's what I thought. Plus, we eat it with a LOT of rice. A whole fucking lot. We add one person to the household and for some reason we ended up doubling our rice consumption. What. The. Fuck. I liked it better when we ate lots of different crap. Without the buttloads of rice. It was nice, having different types of food all the time. I think I will begin to insist on that from here on out. Fuck it, tomorrow, I'm cooking lamb. And we are having it with pasta and salad. End of story. If I see one more soggy fish cooked in an oily sauce this week topped on a bed of rice, I will positively fucking DIE. 6 Comments. Maybe you should not eat any fish and claim you're concerned about mercury. :P » randomjunk on 2007-04-03 10:42:10 :O i Love Filipino Food too. BUT YOU'RE SO RIGHT ABOUT THE RICE. i Just can't seem to stop myself from eating so much rice! Especially with LECHON. Good thing my metabolism is well-paced. :) » frostbitten on 2007-04-03 11:18:34 Less rice and more veggies will work.. I've never had Filipino but it sounds tasty.. Go ahead and change the menu.. it's 100% healthier. » Nuttz on 2007-04-04 12:11:13 Just don't eat with 'em. Say you got plans. Go out, grab a pizza, and watch a movie. Then, go hike your calories away. ^-^ Besides, I don't want you to die anymore than you do. I'm too far away to go to your funeral. =P » Silver-dot- on 2007-04-04 12:57:58 Yeah... kids, eh? Aren't Asians suposed to be... thin? :p Maybe those are more "fancy" foods than "everyday" foods? That would explain the weight gain pretty easily. Tell her to take up exercising or something. » ikimashokie on 2007-04-04 01:33:13 True... you have a point with genetics. I probably wouldn't be able to eat that much Filipino food, rich foods and I don't get along too well. » ikimashokie on 2007-04-04 04:08:49
